I used to take care of penguins, sea otters and dolphins for a living. Very fun, but after seven years, coming home smelling of smelt was deemed "unbearable" by the people close to me.

So in 1996, I set off to study my other passion, art. I drew. I painted. I lived in the darkroom. I scoffed at those losers with nine-to-five jobs.

By 1998, I was down to 155 pounds with a credit score to match. So I decided to study graphic design, advertising and get a job. Yes, a nine-to-five job. As an Advertising Art Director, I discovered that the photographers I hired were always answering the phone from somewhere outdoors. I looked around at the three and half walls of my cubicle and and suddenly got a crazy idea.

In 2004, I left that cubicle and became a full time outdoor phone conversationalist and photographer. I've been doing it ever since and can't imagine doing anything else.

Though, admittedly, I do miss the penguins sometimes.
